Searchers Recover Body Of Boy Who Fell In River

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ohio (AP) — Searchers have recovered the body of an 8-year-old boy missing since he fell into a river in southwest Ohio on Monday.

A Hamilton County sheriff’s spokesman says the boy’s body was found Wednesday afternoon. The Cincinnati Enquirer reports the boy fell into the water in the area where the Great Miami River meets the Whitewater River. He fell while his family was fishing at the mouth of the Whitewater River in Elizabethtown, west of Cincinnati near the Ohio-Indiana line.

Sheriff’s spokesman Mike Robison couldn’t confirm the boy’s name and hometown. The Whitewater Township Fire Department didn’t immediately return calls Wednesday.

Robison said strong currents and changing water levels complicated the search. Crews from multiple Hamilton County jurisdictions and from Dearborn County, Indiana, and Boone County, Kentucky, participated in the search
