Letters to the Editor 4-7-14

Born into a family filled with both public and religious servants, I learned at an early age to never mention either in the same sentence or breath.
Those two subjects were “off-limits” at meal times and family functions. The two mix like oil and water.
I also learned, at the same time, if you’re going to quote Scripture, you’d better get it right: book, chapter and verse.
I left Friday’s GOP luncheon in total shock and disbelief.
My Saturday Courier arrived, confirming my ears did not deceive me. I turned to my worn, well-read and used King James Bible of 40-plus years for answers.
The Ninth Commandment, found in Exodus 20:16, clearly and simply says, “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.”
Sen. Hite got it right! Pastor Shankleton, “Ye do err, not knowing the scripture.” Matthew 22:9.
