Peter Mattiace has been editor of The Courier since January 2008. He worked at three daily newspapers in New Jersey and Virginia, then spent 27 years with The Associated Press, leading bureaus in Atlantic City, Pittsburgh, Charleston, W.Va., and Denver. He covered six Miss America Pageants, offshore oil drilling, professional sports, the decline of the steel and coal industries, Appalachia, and he helped direct AP coverage of the Columbine High School massacre in 1999. His wife, Lisa, is chief of staff at Bowling Green State University. His perfect day would include a drive to a new place, and a nap.
