The 811 motorcycle and Olympian Cliff Meidl made appearances in Findlay Monday, including in front of Logan’s Pub on South Main Street, as part of the “Call Before You Dig” campaign. Meidl, who spoke during a presentation at Marathon Pipe Line Monday afternoon, made two U.S. Olympic teams as a kayaker, but nearly died in 1986 when he jackhammered into three buried power cables and went into cardiac arrest. He currently is the national spokesperson for One Calls of America, which is focused on preventing serious injuries and fatalities by calling the 811 number to be sure all underground lines are marked before digging.
