Findlay Mayor Lydia Mihalik appeared on “Fox & Friends” this morning to discuss the recent controversy surrounding a mural inside the Findlay Municipal Building.

During her appearance on the Fox News morning show, Mihalik said the mural will remain until the city is otherwise directed to do so.

“You know, at this point, we haven’t been given anything by anyone with legal authority that tells us the mural has to be removed,” Mihalik said. “It’s something that we celebrate …We don’t find it offensive at all.”

Mihalik was also asked to respond to comments about the mural from the Freedom from Religion Foundation, the group which sent the city a letter asking for the mural’s removal due to the inclusion of a reference to Psalm 91 on it.

“I think everyone’s entitled to their opinion,” Mihalik added. “We have very many people in this community who practice many diverse religions … and we should celebrate that. It’s not something I’m in a position to apologize for.”
