Residents and businesses along Findlays Lima Avenue should be prepared for detours for the next year, as the Ohio Department of Transportation works to reconstruct the interchanges at U.S. 68 and Ohio 15.

Lima Avenue is expected to be closed to through traffic in September.

Findlay Councilman John Harrington, R-5, raised concerns Tuesday about getting the word out to city residents and workers about the closure.

Harrington said there had been some discussion by ODOT about keeping a lane open on Lima Avenue, but thats not going to happen. Harrington said ODOT, however, said it will work to maintain access for emergency vehicles over the next year.

Harrington said the Findlay Airport, which had plans for an air show this fall, has canceled the event.

Regular updates on the project are available online at, where interested parties can sign up for regular email updates, he said.

Councilwoman Holly Frische, R-1, asked Service Director Brian Thomas to use the citys automated phone system to notify residents and businesses of the coming road closure.

Courier reporter Denise Grant will have more on Wednesday.
