Findlay Police Department is investigating after a man was struck and killed by a train early Sunday.
Shortly after 1 a.m., Wayne R. Bell, 46, of Findlay, was hit by a train on the CSX Railroad tracks in the 300 block of East Main Cross Street, according to the Findlay Police Department.
The police department said that officers “found that a male had been lying partially on the railroad tracks in that area.”
A southbound CSX train could not stop in time. The train later stopped just south of East Sandusky Street.
Two CSX employees were onboard. They were not injured, the police reported.
At 1:22 a.m., Hanco Emergency Medical Service personnel declared Bell deceased. Hancock County Coroner Dr. Mark Fox ordered an autopsy.
Bell’s family has been notified of his death, police said.
The incident is under investigation.
