Hancock County commissioners Thursday unanimously denied a petition by McComb council to change the villages boundary lines to separate it from Pleasant Township.

McComb had filed a petition in June and the commissioners heard from village and township officials about the issue before making the decision Thursday.

The village wanted to stop having residents pay taxes to the township since it was not receiving any benefit. The township said it would lose tax revenue. There were questions about an agreement for cemetery operations and the joint fire district, too.

The commissioners could either accept or deny the petition. In previously meetings, there were concerns expressed about unforeseen issues which may arise from the action, too.
