Findlay Mayor Lydia Mihalik has announced that Findlay Police Lt. Robert Ring will be promoted to captain, with a swearing-in ceremony set for 8:30 a.m. Monday at the municipal building’s council chambers.
Ring is a 22-year veteran of the Findlay Police Department, currently assigned to the Detective Division. Ring started as a police officer in 1996, being promoted to sergeant in 2002 and lieutenant in 2012, upon which he was assigned to the Patrol Division. He also currently serves as commander of the Findlay Police Crisis Management Team.
Ring, his wife and three children live in Findlay.
The city had been without a police captain for 20 months, it was reported last week, following the promotion of Sean Young to acting police chief in February 2017. Young was later fired from the Findlay Police Department, and the ensuing legal fight meant the city was unable to fill the captain position, in case a judge ordered the city to reinstate Young to his former post.
