State Rep. Jon Cross, R-Kenton, has scheduled two public meetings to discuss Gov. Mike DeWine’s transportation budget proposal.

The proposal, announced Thursday, includes a request by DeWine to increase Ohio’s gas tax by 18 cents per gallon.

It would go into effect July 1, if approved by the Legislature.

Cross, who serves on the House Finance Subcommittee on Transportation, has invited local elected officials at the county, township, and municipal levels to the meetings, which are open to the public.

“I look forward to receiving input and having a conversation with our local stakeholders to ensure the best result for the 83rd Ohio House District,” Cross said.

The first town hall meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the Plaza Inn Restaurant in Mount Victory. The second will be held at 8 p.m. March 4 at the Hancock County Engineer’s Office, 1900 Lima Ave., Findlay.

Cross is serving his first term in the Ohio House. The 83rd District includes Hancock and Hardin counties and part of Logan County.
