The Hancock County commissioners are suing a former Fostoria trash hauling company for nearly $100,000 in unpaid landfill fees.

The suit against G.I.B.S. LLC was filed in December 2018 by the commissioners after several attempts to collect the hefty sum, according to the court documents.

A pre-trial hearing in the lawsuit is scheduled for Thursday in the courtroom of Hancock County Common Pleas Court Judge Reginald Routson.

Earlier this month, the trash hauler went out of business without prior notice to its customers, which may have numbered more than 1,000.

In a statement issued by the company on March 6, general manager Larry Lundy apologized. Lundy said he has been unable to find a buyer for the business during the past year, and had no choice but to close it due to family health issues.
