A man led city police on a pursuit in the south part of Findlay early today before striking a cruiser with his vehicle and fleeing on foot, police reported.
Police tried to stop the man, whose name was not released, for “several traffic violations” in the 600 block of South Main Street at 12:44 a.m.
He did not stop, and led officers on a pursuit that lasted five minutes and covered 2.7 miles in the area of West Lima and West Hardin streets. Speeds exceeded 60 mph and the driver “failed to stop for several stop signs,” according to police.
That included a stop sign on West Lima Street at Western Avenue. The eastbound suspect ran the stop sign and struck the rear passenger side of a southbound police car on Western Avenue, police said.
The suspect kept driving, then abandoned the vehicle in the 800 block of Hurd Avenue. He fled on foot and was not found. The investigation is ongoing.
No one was injured.
