OTTAWA — A tractor-trailer driver was arrested after refusing to pull over for an Ottawa Police Department officer early this morning.
The pursuit started around 12:05 a.m. when the northbound tractor-trailer driver failed to pull over when the officer activated the police car’s overhead warning lights on North Perry at North Defiance streets, the police department reported.
The chase went on approximately 10 miles before ending south of Leipsic on Ohio 65, police said.
According to police, the driver was suspected in an earlier reckless driving incident in which one vehicle was struck at North Perry Street near Elm Street in Ottawa.
The driver was taken into custody and transported to the Putnam County Adult Detention Facility with pending criminal and traffic charges, police said.
No further information was available about the driver on tonight.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Leipsic Police Department, the State Highway Patrol, the Multi-Area Narcotics Unit, and Leipsic EMS assisted the police during the pursuit.
