ARLINGTON — Fire destroyed a large, 100-year-old barn on Jackson Township Road 40, just south of Findlay, Wednesday evening.

Terry Huffman, assistant chief of the Arlington Fire Department, said the barn was empty and there were no injuries.

Huffman said embers from a nearby garbage fire drifted into the barn and ignited the blaze.

The fire was reported at about 5 p.m. Wednesday.

A total of 22 firefighters responded to the call, with the Delaware Township and Vanlue fire departments lending mutual aid. It took about two hours to put out the fire.

The fire did not spread to a nearby house.

The barn is owned by Paula Deter of Findlay and is insured, Huffman said.
