Hancock County’s unemployment rate was 3.3 percent in September, the same as in August, the state reported.
Hancock County’s jobless rate was sixth lowest among Ohio’s 88 counties. Putnam County’s 3 percent unemployment rate and Wyandot County’s 3.1 percent were second and third lowest, respectively, the State Job and Family Services Department reported.
In 27 counties including Hancock, jobless rates were unchanged from August to September. Unemployment rates declined in 49 counties in September, the state reported.
Jobless rates in neighboring counties in September, with August rates in parentheses, were: Allen, 4.1 percent (4.2 percent); Hardin, 4.4 (4.5); Henry, 3.9 (4.1); Putnam, 3 (3); Seneca, 4.1 (4); Wood, 3.8 (3.9); Wyandot, 3.1 (3.1).
The unemployment rate statewide increased to 4.2 percent in September from 4.1 percent in August.
