A Fostoria woman was killed Monday afternoon in a two-car collision at the intersection of Hancock County 18 and Hancock County 109, northeast of Findlay.
Starr Platt, 38, of Fostoria, was taken by Hanco Ambulance to Blanchard Valley Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The crash was reported about 5:30 p.m.
The sheriff’s office said Alyssa Greenwald, 20, of Fostoria, was driving a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta west on Hancock County 109, and Platt was southbound on County 18 in a 2002 Honda Civic.
Greenwald proceeded through the intersection and the Volkswagen was struck on the passenger side by Platt’s car, the sheriff’s office said.
After the crash, Greenwald’s car came to rest in a ditch along County 18. Platt’s Honda overturned in a field.
Neither Greenwald nor her passenger, Mekhi Lindsey, 17, of Fostoria, was injured, the sheriff’s office said. Both were wearing seatbelts.
Platt was not wearing a seatbelt, the sheriff’s office said.
The crash remains under investigation.
Assisting at the accident scene were the Allen Township Fire Department and Dick’s Towing.
