College First Church of God will have a single worship service at 9:30 a.m. this Pentecost Sunday at the Winebrenner TLB Auditorium, 950 N. Main St. Children’s Ministry will be available for newborns through fifth grade. Children in kindergarten through fifth grade should attend worship with their families and will be dismissed and escorted to their class. A combined worship choir and praise band will participate in worship. The Rev. Don Dennison’s message is “The Church on Mission,” based on the Scripture from Acts 1:1-8. The Rev. Will Miller, the Rev. David Welker and Ellen Kelly will lead worship. There are no sanctuary services or adult or youth Sunday school classes this week. “Gimme That Old-Time Religion” is the summer worship theme at First Lutheran Church, where summer worship is held at 8:30 and 10 a.m. Sundays. Both services will be from the Service of the Word liturgy and feature familiar hymns voted on by parishioners. There will be a more casual, relaxed style of worship. A noisy offering will be collected at each service, with proceeds benefitting Lutheran Homes Society (also known as Genacross). A coffee fellowship will be held between each service in the lounge.
Howard United Methodist Church will have a reception after the 9 a.m. Sunday service for Holly McConnell, who is resigning as director of the choir and bell choir. The United Methodist Men and Outreach Committee will be sponsoring a spaghetti supper on Friday, which is open to the public.
Redeemer Lutheran Church LCMC, 1009 Blanchard Ave., begins its summer schedule Sunday, with worship at 9:30 a.m. and children’s Sunday school and adult fellowship to follow. This schedule will remain in effect through Sept. 8.
Trinity Evangelical Lutheran
JENERA — Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 301 N. Main St., Jenera, is adding a midweek service for the summer months. The Tuesday evening services, beginning at 7:30, will be held weekly through Sept. 3. The midweek gathering is a casual, shorter service, based on the previous Sunday’s service.
ARCADIA — Trinity Lutheran Church, 18974 Ohio 12, Arcadia, will hold its annual ice cream social from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Friday. The event will feature homemade chicken and noodles, potato salad, baked beans and an assortment of sandwiches, pies and cakes. Dietsch’s ice cream will be available for purchase, with a variety of toppings to choose from. Proceeds will be directed toward local charities such as Christian Clearing House, Fostoria Sharing Kitchen and the Feed our Kids program.
Truck Stop Ministries
NORTH BALTIMORE — A dinner concert will be presented by Truck Stop Ministries at the Iron Skillet Restaurant at Petro Truck Stop, 12900 Deshler Road, North Baltimore, on Sunday. West Independence UM
West Independence United Methodist Church, 22876 U.S. 224, will celebrate Pentecost at the 9 a.m. Sunday worship service. The celebration will include a special children’s moment and communion service.
A free kids’ summer art club will be offered for children in kindergarten through fifth grade this summer at Zion United Methodist Church, 9009 Ohio 12 W. The camp will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursdays through July (with the exception of July 4), culminating in an art show/carnival on July 25.
