Arlington UM

ARLINGTON — “Roar! Life is Wild, God is Good” will be the theme of Vacation Bible School at Arlington United Methodist Church, 230 N. Main St., Arlington. Sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, for children ages 3 through fifth grade. First Lutheran

“Gimme That Old Time Religion” is the summer worship theme at First Lutheran Church. Summer worship times are at 8:30 a.m. and 10. Both services Sunday will feature music performed by the church’s worship band, Spirit at Lincoln and Main. A noisy offering will be collected at each service by the children of the congregation with funds benefiting Genacross, formerly known as Lutheran Homes Society. School supplies are being collected for Stuff the Bus. A coffee fellowship will be held between each service in the church lounge.

Immaculate Conception

OTTOVILLE — The Ottoville Immaculate Conception Church festival will be held July 21 at the church, 189 Church St., Ottoville. Chicken and beef dinners will be served from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the parish center. A lunch stand featuring homemade soups, sandwiches and desserts will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and a baked goods booth opens at 8 a.m. Musical entertainment will be provided throughout the day. The schedule includes: The Brass Notes at 11:30 a.m.; an Indiana Wild Live Animal Show at 1:30 p.m.; singer/songwriter Riley Jameson Bortner at 3:30 p.m.; and JJ the DJ at 4:30 p.m. The festival will also include games, bingo, inflatables, a kiddie tractor pull at 2:30 p.m. and a petting zoo. A balloon artist and face painting will be offered from 3 to 6 p.m. A raffle drawing will be held at 8 p.m. with a $1,000 top prize. New this year is a children’s raffle with drawings at 6:30 p.m. The parish historical room, located on the second floor of the parish center, will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., and tours of the church will be given at 1 and 4 p.m. An evening social will also be held from 5 to 10 p.m. July 20 with barbecued pork sandwiches, chicken wings, onion rings and beverages. Music will be provided by Hipnotix from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., and there will be a 50/50 drawing.

Kline Front Porch Sing

CAREY — The Kline Front Porch Sing and Potluck will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. July 20 at Ridge Chapel Church of the Nazarene, 370 Ohio 568, Carey. Featured musicians include Jimmy Potridge, His Servants, HeartSong, New Presence, One Voice, Ernie Pagel, Ed Ewing, Gary Buhl and Sandi & Kaylene. Attendees should bring a dish to pass. MOUNT CORY — The Mount Cory and Pleasant View United Methodist churches will hold Vacation Bible School from 6:30 to 8 p.m. daily, July 22-26, at Mount Cory United Methodist Church, 300 N. Portage Holiness Camp

PORTAGE — Portage Holiness Camp will be held Aug. 1-11, with daily services for the public at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., led by the Rev. Tom Hermiz and the Rev. Michael Adams. Youth services and sporting activities for ages 12-18, led by the Rev. Brad Buhro, will be offered at the same time. St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church will present “Night Jazz” at 7 p.m. July 20 in the fellowship hall, featuring live music made famous by artists like Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Frank Sinatra. Refreshments and a dance floor will be provided.

St. John’s Lutheran

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1701 Tiffin Ave., will hold its annual ice cream social from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The menu will include a variety of sandwiches, noodles, potato salad, pies and free Dietsch’s ice cream, while supplies last. JENERA — Vacation Bible School will be held Sunday through Thursday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 9340 Township Road 32, Jenera. Each night will begin with a meal at 6 p.m. Children will then go on a safari until 8:30. The theme is “Roar! Life is Wild, God is Good.” Registration forms are available at the church or online at Youth in seventh through 12th grades and their friends are invited to VBS After Hours on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. Activities will be held from 8:30 to 10 p.m., including a bonfire, games, food and faith. Traditional worship services on Sunday will be held at 7:50 and 9 a.m., followed by small study groups for all ages at 10:15 p.m. Contemporary worship begins with praise songs at 11:15 a.m.

St. Paul’s UM

St. Paul’s United Methodist Church will hold Sunday’s church service at 11 a.m. at the Riverside Park band shelter. There will music, a sermon and communion. A picnic lunch will follow with chicken, drinks and table service provided. Attendees should bring a dish to share. There will be bounce houses for the children after lunch.

WEST INDEPENDENCE — The third Touch A Tractor event at West Independence United Methodist Church, 22876 U.S. 224, is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 20. There will be free food and attendees can climb into the driver’s seat of a variety of farm equipment. A K-9 officer presentation will be held at 11 a.m., followed by the Good News Club at 11:45 and a fire safety demonstration at 12:30 p.m. A Vacation Bible School preview skit will also be presented.
