BLUFFTON — Bluffton University will host a concert featuring its Gospel Choir and Jazz Ensemble at 6 p.m. today in Yoder Recital Hall. The performance is free, and donations will support music scholarships. Under the direction of Crystal Sellers Battle, the choir will perform selections including “I’m Determined to Walk with Jesus,” “Even Me,” “You are the Great I Am” and “Emmanuel.”
College First Church of God will host Sojourner Quartet of Findlay for an evening gospel concert on Tuesday. All are invited for dinner at 5:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall, with the concert starting about 6:45 in the sanctuary.
The Freestore at Connections Church, 700 Rockwell Ave., operates from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. the third Saturday of each month. Free distribution of clothes, shoes and toiletries is available, and large items that are needed can be requested. This event is open to anyone who needs a little help. A gingerbread house event will be held in November and December, where children and adults can choose and wrap Christmas gifts for their families. First Lutheran Church will collect a noisy offering Sunday to benefit Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Good Gifts, a program that supports churchwide ministries. Soup, paper towels and toilet paper are being collected this month for Lutheran Social Services; items can be placed in the cart by the elevator. Collection for Coats for Christmas will continue through Nov. 17.
First Presbyterian Church, 2330 S. Main St., will hold its annual Christmas workshop from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Nov. 17 in the fellowship hall. Kids of all ages can make gifts for everyone on their Christmas list, such as ornaments, candles, picture frames, snow globes and more. The event is free, and donations are appreciated.
St. Andrew’s UM
“Thankful in Everything?” is the theme for Sunday’s message in the “Grateful” sermon series at the 9 and 11:15 a.m. services at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church. The outreach team is sponsoring “Soup to Go” from 10 a.m. to noon, when guests can choose homemade soups to take home for a donation. Proceeds will support local veterans’ service organizations.
St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran
JENERA — A Thanksgiving celebration brunch sponsored by the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church Outreach Committee will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 17 at the church, 9340 Township Road 32, Jenera. The menu will include shredded chicken, ham sandwiches and hot dogs, chips, cheesy potatoes, tossed salad, deviled eggs, cheesecake, brownies, cookies and beverages. There is no cost to attend, but donations will be accepted to buy gas cards for those in need of transportation to and from medical appointments. Harvest Home food collection (canned or boxed) continues through November to support Good Hope Lutheran Church’s food pantry.
Taize returns to Trinity Episcopal Church, 128 W. Hardin St., at 5 p.m. Sunday with the theme “I’ll be Ever Thankful.” The service will combine music, prayer and contemplation in a nondenominational setting. Food and fellowship will follow.
Trinity Evangelical Lutheran
JENERA — Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 301 N. Main St., Jenera, will host Chris Driesbach, a Christian musician from Alabama, on Sunday. Driesbach was originally from New Orleans, and his home and church were nearly destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. After they were rebuilt, he “hit the road” to share his message of thanks in his music. He also shares his journey from being a former atheist to becoming a Christian songwriter. He will accompany the 8 and 10:30 a.m. worship services, and will present “A Visit with a Christian Songwriter and Former Atheist” at 9:20 a.m.
Trinity Lutheran Church, 935 W. Bigelow Ave., will celebrate the baptism of Karson Deeds this weekend, on the 22nd Sunday after Pentecost. The Findlay Tri-Church Thanksgiving Eve service will be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 27 at First Lutheran Church, featuring a combined choir from all three churches.

Local vendors and crafters will have displays and there will be white elephant items. A cookie walk and photos with Santa are planned from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
