Connections Pastor the Rev. Kimberly Reese continues the “Joy of Heaven” Advent sermon series Sunday at College First Church of God. Youth in fifth through 12th grades will meet for Bible Quiz at 4 p.m. Sunday in room 200. Grades six through 12 will gather at 5:30 p.m. for dinner, followed by games and a Christmas party. The Christmas cantata “And There Was Light” begins at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Winebrenner TLB Auditorium. The cantata will be presented by the College First Church of God Choir and Orchestra, directed by SeaHwa Jung and accompanied by Su Jung. A Holiday Senior Fun Dinner will take place at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the fellowship hall. A ham dinner will be served, and participants are asked to bring a dish to share. A carol sing will follow. First Baptist Church, 1635 Fostoria Ave., will host its Christmas musical “The King Is Born; Noel! Noel!” at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
First Lutheran Church will celebrate the second Sunday in Advent at 8:15 and 10:45 a.m., with Sunday school between services at 9:30. The Kids of the Kingdom will sing Christmas songs at the 10:45 service, and a coffee and cookie fellowship will be held in the church lounge after each service. A noisy offering will be collected to benefit Open Arms. This month’s Lutheran Social Services requests are for laundry soap, cleaning supplies and potato mixes. These items can be placed in the cart in the coat room. The Millstream Singers and Old Millstream Ringers will present their Christmas program at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

BOWLING GREEN — The Voices of Harmony Chorus will present the 2019 “Sounds of the Season” concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 at First Presbyterian Church, 126 S. Church St., Bowling Green. This year’s concert will feature Van Buren High School’s show choir, “The Association.” Admission is free, and the concert will feature both religious and secular holiday music, with an emphasis on four-part barbershop harmony.
The Rev. Daniel Busch will lead worship and deliver the Advent message “Peace” at 10 a.m. Sunday at First United Church of Christ, 2100 Greendale Ave. Busch is filling in this week due to the death of the church’s minister, the Rev. William Smith. A light lunch will follow in the fellowship hall. The church is ground level and easily accessible.

St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church welcomes the Findlay High School Chamber Orchestra for its third annual Season of Joy concert at 3 p.m. Sunday. The students will present arrangements of classic Christmas carols stylized for string orchestra. Songs include “Two Christmas Angels,” “A Japanese Christmas,” “The Waltz of the Flowers” and “Skater’s Waltz.” The concert is free. “Repeat the Sounding Joy: Loving Joy” is the message at the 9 and 11:15 a.m. services, based on Isaiah 11:1-10. A silent auction in support of the Appalachian Service Project 2020 mission team will be held from 10-11:15 a.m.

JENERA — The senior hand bell choir will provide musical selections at all services Sunday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 9340 Township Road 32, Jenera. Contemporary worship begins with praise songs at 11:15 a.m., and children participating in the Christmas program will practice from 10:15-11 a.m. Catechism students in seventh grade will watch the movie “Secondhand Lions” from 4-6 p.m., while eighth-grade students will meet from 6-7 p.m.
