McCOMB — The McComb Lions Club on Tuesday recognized Rita Newcomer as the 2015 McComb Citizen of the Year.

Pre-Harvest Festival and vacation Bible school and has assisted with bookbag lunches for children. She continues to volunteer at the McComb Public Library and McComb school, and recently helped with a benefit for an area cancer patient.

The club also recognized Dave Siferd with the Ohio Lions Eye Research Leadership Award, and Judy Beeker was awarded the McComb Lion of the Year and was selected as the Zone 6 Lion of the Year. The Melvin Jones Award was presented to Pat Ritter for her work with the club and for serving as district directory chairwoman for the past several years.

Seven club members attended the District 13-A Convention from April 8-9 in Lima. The club is also planning its 50th “Over 80s” party, held for senior residents of the McComb School District.
