Jay Rinsen Weik, Sensei, the Abbot of the Great Heartland Sangha will be the next guest speaker for the University of Findlay’s Religious Studies Lecture Series. The free, public event will be held at 8 p.m. Monday in Old Main’s Ritz Auditorium.
The Rev. Rinsen received full Dharma Transmission as a recognized zen teacher by the Rev. James Myoun Ford Roshi in the Harada/Yasutani Koan Introspection and Soto Zen traditions.
He began his zen studies in 1987 at Zen Mountain Monastery with John Daido Loori Roshi, and in 1998 he received the 16 buddhist precepts and the Dharma name Chikyo. In 2001 he moved to Toledo, and in 2004 he created the Toledo Zen Center.
