The Findlay Family YMCA held its annual Heritage Society reception Nov. 15.

The Heritage Society represents individuals who have pledged to support the YMCA through a planned gift, and Tom Buis was honored for his lifelong service to the YMCA. He has held various volunteer positions including past board president and chairman of the endowment committee. In his honor, the Ann and Tom Buis Fund was established within the endowment of the YMCA. The fund will support youth and teen programs and leadership development at the Y.

New members were also inducted into the Heritage Society and include Isaac and Laura Feeney, Greg and Beth Meyers and Alex and Jennifer Treece.

The Arts Partnership

The Arts Partnership held its annual meeting Nov. 15, with awards presented to acknowledge individuals and businesses that were integral in supporting the agency’s 2015-16 efforts.

The Star Supporter Award was presented to the Brian and Andrea Christiansen Family due to their many years of involvement in The Arts Partnership, along with their volunteer efforts with Youtheatre and summer fundraising events.

Cooper Tire and Rubber Co. was given the Star Corporate Supporter Award for its sponsorship of the partnership’s education program and Boogie on Main, hosting of Jeans Day events and involvement by many of its employees.

Bryan and Kim Perkins were recognized for volunteering many hours for the Youtheatre program with The Star Volunteer Award.

The Community Arts Awareness Award was presented to Awakening Minds Art for its commitment to making the arts accessible to everyone, as well as collaborations with The Arts Partnership, including the Tri the Arts Day Camp.

In addition, longtime board members Steve Bihn, Sabrina Kirk, Bob Minto, Bob Nichols, Kevin Pancake, Rollie Smith, Brian Treece and Rod Walton were recognized for their many years of service to the organization.
