A benefit to help train a service dog for 5-year-old Story Belle Rettig will be held from 5-10 p.m. Friday at Moose Lodge 698, 1028 W. Main Cross St.

Story Belle, who recently graduated from kindergarten, was diagnosed with gelastic seizures, a rare form of epilepsy, about two months ago. She has up to 30 seizures a day which, to this point, have been drug-resistant. During her seizures, she reaches for someone to hang on to — and that will be the job of her service dog, which will give her the security she needs to endure these seizures at home, as well as at school.

All proceeds will go toward the training of her therapy dog, a standard poodle named Sully, by the local nonprofit Pawsible Angels.

The event is open to the public. Dinner will be provided by Amigos Catering & Salsa and will include three tacos, beans and rice and a homemade cream-filled cupcake for $10.

Raffle prizes include a T-shirt signed by Ben Roethlisberger, tattoo gift certificates, furniture certificates and more.

Wynter Schroeder Music and George Baldridge will provide music, and the master of ceremonies for the evening will be Tamera Rooney. Also helping with the event are House of Awards and Trophies and Flag City Online.
