FORT JENNINGS — The annual Fort Jennings Fort Fest will be held this weekend. Events begin at noon Friday and at both 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The festival features exhibits from all over the United States including the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation and their 9/11 “Never Forget” mobile exhibit. This 53-foot tractor-trailer unfolds into a 1,000-square-foot museum with interactive displays, artifacts from the Twin Towers and firefighting equipment used at the scene of the 9/11 disaster with live tours by FDNY firefighters.
Kevyn Howard, known for his role as Rafterman from Stanley Kubrick’s film “Full Metal Jacket,” will bring two of his national 9/11 Angels Memorial Cars to the event. These cars are adorned with names of the victims from the Twin Towers.
Returning to the festival will be War of 1812 re-enactments, artillery and cannon displays, the Wolf Hounds Vietnam re-enactment group, Children’s Camp 1812 and the Ohio MIA/POW Wall. Other activities include a motorcade/motorcycle run, classic car show and wine tasting featuring four Northwest Ohio wineries. Entertainment will feature Truckstop Manners, Exploit, Midwest Dueling Pianos and the 338th Army Band.
Flights on a Huey helicopter are arranged on a first-come, first-serve basis, with the cost going directly to the American Huey 369 organization.
