ARLINGTON — Seventh-graders at Arlington Middle School are participating in “Free Throws for H2O” this week.

Through Friday, students will gather in the gym to shoot 50 free throws. They will count up the number of baskets they made, then contact their pledges and collect money from them.

The students’ goal is to raise $1,000 to help build a well in a South Sudanese village. The effort is a response to the students having read “A Long Walk to Water” by Linda Sue Park, which highlights the importance of a simple well. The school has partnered with the Water for South Sudan nonprofit.
