ADA — The Ohio Northern University observatory will host “The Transit of Mercury Across the Sun” from 10 a.m. to noon Monday.
This is a rare celestial event. The planet Mercury will appear as a tiny, circular silhouette on the face of the sun as it undergoes an almost perfect syzygy with the sun and Earth. This should not be viewed without proper filters.
The next transit of Mercury is in November 2032, but the next one visible from Ohio will be in May 2049.
