Traditional songs and the lighting of the candles of Kwanzaa will be celebrated from 2-5 p.m. Saturday at the Black Heritage Library and Multicultural Center, 817 Harmon St.

Elizabeth Washington will conduct a workshop beginning at 2 p.m., during which participants will learn the Swahili terms for the primary, secondary and tertiary symbols to be used in the celebration. A celebration will follow, with a traditional Kwanzaa meal served. Donations will be accepted on behalf of the library.

Kwanzaa begins Dec. 26 and runs through Dec. 1.
