PANDORA — The Northwest Ohio Beekeeping Association will host five hourlong beginning beekeeping classes beginning Jan. 28.

Classes will be held from 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 28, Feb. 25, March 24, April 28 and May 26 at Pandora School, located on Rocket Ridge Road. Cost is $40 and includes membership to the association and a book. Association meetings will follow each class, at 7:30 p.m.

The classes are designed for people who would like to get started in beekeeping, or those with previous experience who would like to get back into the hobby. Topics will include basic honeybee biology; races of bees; package bees versus nucs; where to get bees; how to start a hive; new and used equipment; keeping bees in a residential setting; feeding; inspections; swarm control; disease and pest management; honey production and other hive products; and overwintering.
