Upscale apartments will be opening north of Findlay in coming weeks.

Horizon Pointe Villas, renting for $1,249 or more per month, will open eight units by Aug. 1 south of Hancock County 99 and west of Technology Drive, developer John Aubry said.

Eight more will open in mid-August. By October, a total of 48 units will be open, spread among six buildings.

Forty of the units will be two-bedroom apartments, of 1,076 square feet, Aubry said. The other eight will have three bedrooms and 1,305 square feet. All of the apartments will be single-story with two full bathrooms, a two-car attached garage and separate laundry rooms, he said.

Construction of an additional 68 units will start in spring 2018, Aubry said.

Construction of other upscale apartments has begun west of Findlay. Liberty Ridge Properties is planning to complete 64 apartments by summer 2018 at the north end of Thimbleberry Drive, north of Ohio 12.

Those will rent for $1,575 to $1,700 per month, said Andrew Yates, owner of Liberty Ridge Properties.

The developments are a response to a reported shortage of housing in the Findlay area.
