A 17-year-old from Findlay was killed in a Thursday morning crash on Liberty Township 67, near Findlay Airport, according to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the sheriff’s office, Robert McCracken was driving a 2005 Mercury van northbound on Liberty Township 67 about 7:28 a.m. when he lost control of the van on the snow-covered roadway.
The van spun sideways and went off the left side of the road and through a front yard at 11776 Liberty Township 67 before striking a tree on the passenger side of the van.
McCracken was pronounced dead at the scene by Hanco EMS personnel. He was wearing a seat belt, the sheriff’s office reported.
The accident remains under investigation.
Assisting at the scene were the Liberty Township Fire Department and Dick’s Towing.
McCracken lived in the Liberty-Benton School District and attended Findlay High School, saidBarb Bish, community relations coordinator for Findlay City Schools. The Critical Incident Stress Management Team of Western Ohio met with high school staff after school Thursday and will be available all day today.
