Findlay High School’s We The People team took first place Friday in state competition at the Ohio Statehouse.
Findlay moves on to represent Ohio in the national finals to be held April 27 to May 1 in Washington, D.C.
FHS has won the state championship 15 of the past 16 years, according to coach Mark Dickman.
The team’s best national finish was second place in 1990.
Archbold took second place at the state competition this year, followed by Bellbrook in third place.
Students presented and evaluated positions on relevant historical and contemporary issues, provided prepared answers to competition questions, and underwent questioning in simulated legislative hearings.
Judges included state legislators, college professors, judges, attorneys and other community leaders.
