A two-apartment duplex on East Lincoln Street was heavily damaged by fire Monday afternoon, the Findlay Fire Department reported.

Firefighters were called to 311 E. Lincoln St. at 3:27 p.m., where a fire was discovered in the entryway of the first floor of the two-story structure.

Fire officials reported heavy fire damage to the entry area and smoke and heat damage throughout the building. Firefighters remained at the scene until 7:10 p.m.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

No one was home in either apartment at the time of the fire, according to firefighters. The American Red Cross chapter assisted residents with temporary housing and other needs such as food and clothing.
