ARLINGTON — Arlington Council on Monday named Beth Waltermire to fill the vacant council seat of Tom Blunk, who stepped down last month because he is moving from the village.
“Thank you, Beth, for stepping forward,” Mayor Michael Palmer said.
Separately, Councilwoman Marcia Smith outlined some details of the village trash collection slated for 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 12 at the village park.
No oils or concrete will be accepted, but tires and batteries will be collected in separate bins, according to Smith.
Separately, Arlington’s festival has been scheduled for Aug. 10-11.
Separately, the villages of Arlington and McComb will face off in a Step Challenge later this year.
Volunteers are being sought to see who logs the most steps taken during the summer, according to village officials.
“I think it would be a neat idea,” Mayor Palmer said.
In other business, council:
- Will consider adding new code lock boxes to the doors of the Arlington Fire Department.
- Heard that potholes on village streets are being filled in.
