DESHLER — The police chief of Deshler has been indicted for misuse of the state’s law enforcement database.

Chief Ryan Bowersox was charged with three counts of unauthorized use of the Ohio Law Enforcement Gateway, according to court records.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on the fifth-degree felony charges on April 17 in Henry County Common Pleas Court.

Bowersox was placed on administrative leave Thursday after search warrants were served at his Hamler residence and at the Deshler police department.

The warrants sought stolen guns, steroids and other evidence, although the Henry County prosecutor’s office has not disclosed what, if anything, was recovered.

A grand jury handed up the criminal charges March 28.
