The Hancock County commissioners on Tuesday approved a resolution to participate in the state Department of Transportation winter road salt contract.

The county expects to get a better price on road salt through the state’s purchasing program. The county had to submit its intention to participate by June 1, and agreed to purchase 3,000 tons.

Separately, the commissioners approved a resolution to contract with Feasel’s Ground Maintenance to grade and seed 15 properties purchased by the county with flood-reduction funds. The contract is for about $6,074.

This action is separate from a green space plan previously presented by Stantec, the engineering firm designing the Hancock County flood-reduction plan.

The commissioners also held an executive session to discuss potential real estate acquisition, potential litigation, and personnel hiring. No action was taken.
