Hancock County Commissioner Tim Bechtol outspent challenger Paul Craun by about $1,000 in the Republican primary election, campaign finance reports show.
Post-election campaign spending reports were due Friday from candidates and campaign committees that spent or received at least $1,000 since pre-election reports were filed. The latest reports were filed with the Hancock County Board of Elections.
Bechtol captured the Republican Party nomination for a full four-year term in the May 8 primary. He faces no opposition in November.
On election night, he received about 60 percent of the votes cast, while Craun received about 40 percent.
Bechtol’s campaign spent a total of $8,891 on his election bid.
In the post-election report, his campaign committee reported about $3,563 brought forward from the last reporting period, $200 in new contributions, and $1,000 in other income, for available funds of about $4,763.
The committee reported expenses of about $4,516 in the post-election report, leaving a balance of about $247. The report also listed a loan of $8,000. The figures are rounded.
A $200 contribution from John W. Pinski Jr., Findlay, was the only contribution received during the latest reporting period.
The other income listed was a loan transfer of $1,000.
Expenses of at least $100 were: Blanchard Valley Broadcasting, Findlay, a division of Findlay Publishing Co., $596 for radio advertising; Brandon Screen Printing, Lima, campaign yard signs, about $457; Findlay Publishing Co., Findlay, newspaper advertisement, $400; J. Yoakam, Fostoria, campaign design services, handouts and web hosting, $3,063.
Craun’s campaign spent a total of about $7,868 on the election effort.
In the post-election report, his campaign committee reported about $3,776 brought forward from the last reporting period and $1,150 in contributions, for available funds of about $4,926.
The committee reported expenses of about $4,839, leaving a balance of about $87. The report also listed a loan of about $169.
Contributions of at least $100 came from: Janice Bishop, Findlay, $250; Jack Croy, Findlay, $200; and Craun, $500.
