Hancock County real estate taxes for the second half of 2017 are due Friday.
Property owners may make payments any time prior to the due date at the Hancock County Treasurer’s Office from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the county courthouse.
For those paying by check, there is a drop box inside the courthouse entry. Also, taxes may be paid at numerous lending institutions.
Mailed payments must be postmarked with a U.S. Postal cancellation date of the July 13, 2018, due date or prior to be accepted without penalty.
Taxpayers are responsible for any taxes due, and failure to receive a bill does not avoid penalty and interest charges, according to Treasurer J. Steve Welton.
