An Arcadia man was arrested after he led Findlay police and the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office on two separate car chases Tuesday night and early Wednesday.

Jesse Sleasman, 27, was arrested after the second chase and is being held in the Hancock County jail on unrelated warrants, the Findlay Police Department reported.

Police said the first chase began after employees at Circle K, 464 E. Sandusky St., called police about 8:07 p.m. Tuesday concerning a possibly intoxicated male.

Police said the male, later identified as Sleasman, got into a vehicle that had been stolen in Wyandot County. As police approached, he drove off, striking two Findlay police vehicles.

Sleasman led officers out of town and circled around the southeast corner of the county for approximately 15 miles, police said.

The engine of the fleeing vehicle failed, and it stopped on Biglick Township Road 258 near Hancock County 7, east of Findlay.

Police said Sleasman fled on foot into a cornfield. Officers gave chase but lost sight of him.

The State Highway Patrol, sheriff’s deputies from Hancock, Wyandot and Seneca counties, and other agencies assisted in that search.

A law enforcement drone and a state patrol helicopter were used in the search.

Then at 1:10 a.m. Wednesday, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office was called to 8287 Hancock County 330 in Biglick Township, where residents said a man had just stolen a 1994 Ford Ranger.

Deputies pursued that vehicle for about 24 miles in the northeast part of Hancock County until the Ford stopped in a cornfield along Hancock County 236, south of Cass Township 215.

Deputies searched the field for three hours, but could not find the driver.

Deputies picked up the trail again after receiving word that Sleasman was at an address on Cass Township 215. They arrested him on unrelated warrants.

The Findlay Police Department said it continues to investigate the first incident, and charges may be sought.

No injuries were reported as a result of the two chases and subsequent searches.
