ARLINGTON — Travel will be restricted at the village park during this weekend’s Arlington Festival, Village Council said Monday.
A portion of Main Street between Vail and Liberty streets is closed for the next few months while the street, sidewalks and waterlines are being replaced.
Roads through the park have been serving as bypass while Main Street is closed.
But travel will be restricted this weekend at the park.
“We can’t have through traffic coming through the park” during the festival, Street Commissioner Dean Glick told Arlington Council.
To date, a few tractor-trailers have tried to navigate through the park, despite traffic signs.
Once the first portion of the Main Street renovation is completed, work will begin on a section of Main Street between the high school and Liberty Street.
Separately, replacement water meters for residences and businesses have been ordered, and will be installed this fall, according to village officials. The new meters will be more accurate.
In other business, council:
- Said the community swimming pool will close for the season on Aug. 25.
- Heard that a lift station on Main Street has been fixed.
