The State Highway Patrol has filed felony drug charges against a West Virginia man and woman after a Hancock County traffic stop Wednesday yielded 246 grams of heroin and 1 gram of marijuana, worth about $43,788, according to the patrol.

Troopers stopped a 2006 Ford Mustang with a West Virginia license plate for a lane violation on Interstate 75 at 7:47 p.m. Wednesday. During the stop, troopers smelled marijuana in the vehicle and searched the car.

Shawntrinia Alford, 29, and Terrell Walker, 34, both of Huntington, West Virginia, were charged with possession of heroin, a first-degree felony.

They face up to 11 years in prison and up to a $20,000 fine if convicted, according to the patrol.
