FOSTORIA — A storage barn fire just outside Fostoria city limits last weekend has been ruled an arson by the State Fire Marshal’s Fire and Explosion Investigation Bureau.
The fire at 11254 W. Township Road 116 began before 4:30 a.m. last Saturday, destroying a storage barn and causing damage to two vehicles and the home on the property. No one was injured.
The Seneca County auditor’s website shows the property is owned by Joseph and Karen Zimmerman.
Firefighters from Bascom, Fostoria, Kansas and Washington Township in Hancock County battled the blaze for about 1 to 1½ hours before bringing it under control.
Bascom EMS and the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office also responded.
Investigation of the incendiary blaze is being conducted by the State Fire Marshal’s Office, the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office and the Bascom Joint Fire District.
A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered by the Blue Ribbon Arson Committee for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for setting the fire.
