A negligent homicide charge has been filed against Michael J. Jones in connection with a July stabbing death in Findlay.
According to Findlay Municipal Court records, the offense occurred on July 25. That’s the same day Tyler Wilson, 19, was fatally stabbed on College Street in Findlay.
“Although I don’t think the charge is what he should have been charged with, I’m glad to see the city is attempting to give him consequences for his actions,” said Kristy Wilson, Tyler’s mother.
In September, a Hancock County grand jury declined to indict a suspect, who was not publicly named, on homicide charges. At the time, Hancock County Prosecutor Phil Riegle said he would pass the case to Findlay Law Director Don Rasmussen for a possible negligent homicide charge.
Negligent homicide is a first-degree misdemeanor.
City prosecutors did not return a phone call Thursday about the case.
No age or date of birth for Jones was listed in the municipal court records. A McComb post office box was listed for his address.
