ARCADIA — This spring, Arcadia School District voters will cast ballots to decide the renewal of a 1 percent income tax.
The Arcadia school board on Thursday agreed to place the measure before voters on May 7.
The tax brings in an estimated $822,010 annually for general operating expenses, according to school officials.
Separately Thursday, the board selected Ryan George to serve as board president for 2019. Board member Eric Metcalfe was tabbed as vice president.
The board will meet on the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the high school library this year.
Separately, the board agreed to pay $100,000 to obtain the Billy Leathers’ property of four lots with one house on North Main Street just east of the school campus.
The purchase, according to Superintendent Bruce Kidder, will allow for more parking and a better traffic flow there.
In other business, the school board:
• Accepted a $1,000 grant from the Toledo Community Foundation Walleye Wishing Well Fund.
• Approved its membership with the Ohio School Boards Association for 2019.
• Held a closed executive session to discuss personnel matters.
