A Canton area woman has been convicted in federal court of committing a series of bank robberies, including one in Findlay in 2017.

The Canton Repository reported that Fellicia A. Smith, 41, entered guilty pleas to four robbery counts before U.S. District Judge John Adams in Akron.

According to federal prosecutors, Smith robbed the KeyBank at 1920 Tiffin Ave. in Findlay on April 3, 2017.

At the time, Findlay police reported that an unidentified female entered the bank, brandished a large knife, and robbed the bank of an undetermined amount of cash.

Smith also was convicted of three other bank robberies: Fifth Third Bank in Kent on Dec. 24, 2016; First National Bank in Boardman on Feb. 18, 2017; and KeyBank in Youngstown on March 31, 2017.

Smith showed a knife to a teller and demanded cash in each robbery, according to prosecutors. She stole a total of $12,556 from the four banks, according to her indictment.

She is scheduled to be sentenced on April 24.
