McCOMB — Village Council on Monday struck down a parking restriction on Main Street in downtown McComb.

A two-hour parking restriction had been in place for the downtown area.

Separately, the regional Heart & Soul group will hold a community meeting to discuss bringing a Block Watch crime program in McComb.

The meeting will be held at 2 p.m. Feb. 17 in the municipal building.

Separately, recycling bins reintroduced by Litter Landing to the community have drawn a positive response, to date.

The portable bins accept certain materials, starting on the first Tuesday of each month and continuing through the following Thursday at the village garage on Maple Street.

The program so far has “went very well,” according to Village Administrator Kevin Siferd.

In other business, council:

• Introduced the new village clerk, Brittany Boyer.

• Said the municipal office will be closed on Monday for Presidents Day.

• Sent a few letters to property owners who are in violation of junk regulations.
