A Findlay man died and two other people were injured Friday morning when a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer collided at the intersection of U.S. 224 and Marion Township 215, east of Findlay.
The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office said Francis W. Stilipec, 83, of Findlay, the driver of the pickup, died following the crash.
His wife, Sharon L. Stilipec, 83, and the driver of the semi, Eric Lee Lockard of Madison Heights, Michigan, were injured and were taken by Hanco EMS to Blanchard Valley Hospital, the sheriff’s office said.
The crash was reported at 10:10 a.m.
Francis Stilipec was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado south on Township 215, and stopped for a stop sign at U.S. 224, the sheriff’s office said. He then proceeded across U.S. 224, into the path of a 2006 Freightliner semi driven by Lockard, the sheriff’s office said.
After the collision, the pickup went off the southwest corner of the intersection into a field. The semi stopped on U.S. 224.
Both vehicles were heavily damaged and were towed.
Assisting at the accident scene were the Washington Township Fire Department, Ed’s Towing and Dick’s Towing.
