McCOMB — McComb officials want to consolidate the dates for this summer’s Fourth of July fireworks and the village Cookie Fest.

Village Council on Monday heard plans to hold the Cookie Fest on July 6-7, and the fireworks would be set off July 6.

“I think it’s a good idea,” Village Administrator Kevin Siferd said. “We’re going to try it.”

Also, a public meeting for volunteers to discuss Cookie Fest plans will be held at 7 p.m. March 7 in the municipal building.

Separately, in the wake of this weekend’s windstorm, curbside brush pickup for village residents is underway for downed limbs and will continue this week, according to village officials.

Separately, Litter Landing will bring recycling bins to McComb again from March 5-7. The bins for collecting designated recyclable materials will be located near the village garage off Maple Street.

In other business, council:

• Said the ice rink at the village park soon will be taken down for the season.

• Will advertise for lifeguards to work at the community swimming pool.

• Heard information about McComb Library’s proposed 1-mill levy for five years that will be on the primary ballot.
