McCOMB — McComb Council on Monday was told that festival and fireworks committees are planning to move the dates again for the Cookie Fest and fireworks this summer.
Under consideration is holding the Cookie Fest on Aug. 10-11 so more students would be available to participate in activities.
Plans also call for fireworks to be held Aug. 10 at the park.
At a meeting last month, council was told that officials were planning to hold the Cookie Fest on July 6-7.
Separately, Councilwoman Carol Cary said efforts to bring a community building to McComb are “on hold.”
Cary said a lack of community input was the reason for not moving forward with the project.
Also, Cary said she will pursue grants from the AARP to install a fitness trail with exercise stations at the village park.
A grant also could be sought to install concrete pads at the park that could hold checker and chess boards.
In other business, council:
• Heard that a bay door at the fire station, damaged by a fire truck, will be fixed.
• Gave a second reading to an ordinance to update sidewalk and curb specifications in McComb.
• Discussed the need for a storm sewer management plan.
