CAREY — A Lima truck driver suffered serious injuries Monday morning when a collision destroyed the semi cab he was driving south of Carey on U.S 23.

Terry L. Routson, 50, of Lima, was taken by a LifeFlight medical helicopter to St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima, the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office reported. No further information was available on his condition.

Routson was driving north on U.S. 23, three miles south of Carey, when his tractor-trailer veered to the right and sideswiped a semi on the berm, the sheriff’s office reported.

Routson’s semi came to rest in the left lane of northbound traffic. The accident occurred about 10:26 a.m. Monday near the intersection with Wyandot County Highway 42, the sheriff’s office reported.

The driver of the semi on the berm, Yassin Omar, 35, of Minneapolis, was not injured.

Routson was charged with failure to control, the sheriff’s office reported.
